After discovering the astonishing city of Bilbao, we continue our hike without losing sight of the ocean. You'll discover the Cantabrian coast and its pretty fishing villages. The Camino de Compostela via the northern route is a fine alternative, where coastal landscapes are omnipresent. Santillana del Mar, the pearl of the Camino del Norte, is well worth a visit...

BILBAO
Check in to your hotel at the end of the afternoon.
(BILBAO) ZIERBANA - CASTRO URDIALES 24km
We organise transport for you out to Zierbana; then you walk to the pretty port of Castro Urdiales, along the beautiful Cantabrian coast. Dinner is not included.
CASTRO URDIALES - LAREDO 25km
The walk continues through meadows interspersed with jutting outcrops of limestone, where goats and sheep graze. Then you go through eucalyptus forests and enter the peaceful village of Laredo.
LAREDO - GUEMES (There is a short ferry crossing ) 28.5km
A short boat trip across the estuary takes you to Santoña. You will then reach the quiet village of Güemes. Dinner not included.
GUEMES - SANTANDER (this includes a 30-minute ferry crossing of the estuary before reaching Santander). 15.5km
This day’s walk takes you from Guemes to Santander, the capital of Cantabria. At the beginning of the walk, you can do a short detour to see the beach at Noja. You end this day’s walk with a boat crossing which brings you to Santander.
SANTANDER - MOGRO (there is a short train journey to get you across the river Mogro) 15km
Hiking day between Santander and Mogro. short train journey to get you across the river Mogro at Bóo de Pielagos.
MOGRO - SANTILLANA DEL MAR 20km
Today’s walk takes you to one of the loveliest villages of the Camino del Norte: Santillana del Mar.
Dinner not included.
SANTILLANA DEL MAR
